Despite the recent news that UK unemployment levels have dropped, it appears that the actual chances of finding a job in some parts of the country has also fallen. The main areas where job seekers struggle to find jobs are in the south west, and the north and east west of England. There are fewer job opportunities and the commute to larger cities to find a job is just not feasible. Although the cost of living might be less, actual career prospects are few and far between.
The West Midlands is also an area that has struggled with job prospects over the years, with the worst record of long-term job prospects in the country. It’s thought that the job market is not much better than it was here around 20 years ago. Many are arguing that the government needs to be doing more to ensure there are equal job prospect across all parts of the county.
The country needs more higher paid jobs across all regions and to see an increase in wages for those who are already in work. There may have been a drop in unemployment levels, but the hidden figures show that actual job prospects are considerably poorer in certain pockets of the country.
